The Inaugural RCC agility trial held in conjunction with the Alberta Golden Retriever Club as a success on many levels for the clubs. Both clubs were able to share the expenses and neither club lost money. (The club raised over a $1000.00 – big thanks to all the supportive people including our American Rottie owners that partook in the raffle at the American Rottweiler National this year). The RCC hosted Friday and Saturday ( July 18/19 ) of the three day event. It was held outdoors on the grounds of Wet Noses Agility Fields near Strathmore AB. Per the usual “Alberta” weather forecast , we sustained every weather system except snow.

We had a total of 7 Rottweilers representing the Breed over the 3 days. Each level of difficulty from Novice to Master had a Rottweiler(s) and a passing/qualifying run. On Friday, the club had a total of 129 runs and on Saturday, 212 runs. This trial was well attended by the Agility community and the volunteers “worked overtime”. Michelle Whistlecraft and I ( Debbie Haynes ) wanted to make special note to Wesley Ulan, Heather Smith ( Wathaman Rottweilers ) and her grand-daughter Jada, Kim and Harry Zippel ( Blue Ribbon Kennels ) for going the “extra mile” in making this event a success. Kim and Harry Zippel, Michelle and Debbie and Wesley ( Maplemor Rottweilers ) helped to raise over $1500 in donations/raffles for this event. The HIT prize was donated by Maplemor Rottweilers.

We hope to have RCC host another agility trial in 2015 – stay tuned…….
