Did you know that there is a fund-raising initiative to raise funds for canine cancer research? Did you know it is right here in Alberta? It is true! The Smiling Blue Skies Walk to End Canine Cancer takes place annually in Calgary, Alberta, normally the first Sunday in May.
Last year this dynamic group of people raised a staggering $30,000+ for canine cancer research. All of the funds raised go directly to the OVC Pet Trust – Smiling Blue Skies Cancer Fund at the Ontario Veterinary College.
This amazing walk was founded by Suzi Beber who has lost her beloved Goldens to cancer.
Since its founding it has grown into becoming one of the major fund-raising efforts for cancer research. We all know that Rottweilers as a breed are hugely affected by this horrible disease. As in Goldens, it is true in Rottweilers, if you own this breed it is not a question of IF you will lose a dog to cancer, it is a matter of WHEN.
Please take a moment to consider donating or participating in this great cause! You can learn more by visiting the Smiling Blue Skies website. Together, we CAN make a difference!!
There are a few Rottweiler Club of Canada members that are active participants in this walk each year. Come out and join us!
