In Memory of Justice

December 28, 1998 – June 27, 2007

Justice was the best first working/obedience dog a novice trainer could ever ask for. From the moment we laid eyes on each other at the Calgary Airport, we were a team.

Everything I asked him to do, he did. He had the most solid, trustworthy temperament with the ability to go from work mode to family mode in a heartbeat. He gave me his all, even when his back started to fail him at 5 years old. He earned his BH title and one leg of his CDI title before I officially retired him from the obedience ring in 2004. After that, he became puppy trainer extraordinaire … a job to which he relished.

In May of 2007, Justice was diagnosed with cancer. The cancer was successfully removed after the first surgery, but unfortunately, the hole left behind from the tumor seemed irreparable. After the second surgery didn’t work, and faced with the only other option of amputation of his left front leg, we decided that rather than dooming him to a life of constant back pain as he learns to live with 3 legs, we would let him go with his dignity intact.

I miss him more than I could ever put into mere words.

He is now and always will be my very special bear.

Until we meet again Mr. Mugs
